A meeting between Nobel Peace Prize winners is not a common event.
Wednesday March 26, Barack Obama will visit the European institutions. Let us remind them of their responsibilities for peace and democracy that accompany their prize.
The peace movement invites you for a protest action at Place de Luxembourg, Brussels, Wednesday March 26 at noon, 12.30.
President Obama and The European Union received the Nobel Peace Prize but…
– The United States (685 billion dollar) and Europe (407 billion dollar) sign for 62 % of the global military expenditures
– Both Peace prize winners are responsible for two thirds of the world’s arms trade, even towards conflict sensitive or violent regions.
– these Nobel Peace Prize winners announce the modernization of the American nuclear arsenal in Europe.
The attacks on peace and democracy by both Nobel Peace Prize winners appear today still under a different form: the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. In the biggest discretion EU and USA are preparing a transatlantic market.
The objective? An increased liberalization of the financial and commercial relations, which go together with joint juridical and security policies.
Deadline: 2015… This project is a real threat for our democratic system in many fields: financial and public services are at stake; growing social inequality and environmental pollution; increasing power for transnational companies. And all this without really consulting the population that will appear to be the victim.
NO TO THE MILITARIZATION OF THE WORLD
FOR THE TRANSFER OF MILITARY BUDGETS TO PEOPLE’S SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
NO TO THE TRANSATLANTIC TRADE AND INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP.
