A peace camp will be located in Tredegar Park, Newport, from Friday 29th August. Basic facilities will be provided and the camp is recognised by the local council and police. Bring your own tents and register with Eddie Clarke on or 07939053174. The camp is asking for a donation of £2 per night per person.
Hello everyone,
This is just a quick follow-up to the email a few weeks ago about the
action camp at the NATO summit in Newport. That email was sent by an
individual keen to get info out quickly, which meant they did not manage
to check it with the rest of the working group, leaving a few things
that now need clarifying.
[Sorry if you are getting this mail unsolicited – we won’t send any more
out in this way unless there is an emergency].
1) As mentioned, we have permission from the council to use the land –
but we want to re-assure people that the camp will be a self-organised
activist space and that it has (for example) been made clear to the
police that they would not be welcome on site.
2) There will be at least one self-organised kitchen providing vegan
meals centrally, for donations, hopefully two – not a ‘cooking area’ as
previously stated.
3) We hope to make the camp as accessible as possible, but may need help
to make this a reality.
4) The location of the camp has been moved from Pill Mill Fields to
Tredegar Park (see map on our website).
The best place to get up-to-date information about the camp is our
