Military upheaval in the High North and NATO
Part 1. “Atomic equipment in the northern areas and Norway” by journalist Bård Wormdal
Bård Wormdal is a journalist in NRK, and has lived most of his adult life in Vadsø – far to the north. He has for a long time investigated and raised questions about what the secret services in East Finnmark really do with. He has also asked questions about international war use of space, and how Norway is involved. Bård Wormdal has published two books: “The Satellite War” and “The Spy Base”.
Part 2. “No to war – No to NATO“
Seher Aydar (“Red” party parliamentary representative), Petter Eide (“Socialist Left Party” parliamentary representative) and Kristine Mollø-Christensen from “Stopp Nato” initiate a debate.
In connection with NATO’s creation 70 years ago, it is an international campaign with the slogan “No to War – No to Nato”. In Norway, there is a defense policy debate which, to a very limited extent, makes itself critical of NATO membership. This happens at the same time as the “peace nation” Norway discusses more armament, allows several foreign soldiers on Norwegian soil, holds gigantic NATO exercises and Jens Stoltenberg appears more and more as a mouthpiece for an American weapons industry complex.
What is needed to build a people’s movement against war? Is it important to connect the peace campains, the protests against nuclear weapons with resistance to NATO? How to do it?
