NATO is the main Threat of War

As the 29 members of the NATO military alliance meet in London this week, we are informed of growing tensions between US president Donald Trump, French president Emmanuel Macron and German chancellor Angela Merkel on the best strategy for defending Europe, against those aggressors who threaten us. However, a more important NATO Counter Summit was held last weekend in London organised by a broad range of anti-war and human rights activists that suggested the real threat to world peace comes from these same NATO war mongers and their allies.

Roger Cole, Chair of PANA (Peace and Neutrality Alliance in Ireland) was one of the speakers at this NATO Counter Summit in London on Saturday 30th of November. He said:

“Northern Ireland has been part of NATO since its foundation. The Republic of Ireland is signing up to the emerging EU Army via the PESCO Agreement and well over three million US troops have landed in Shannon airport on their way to their perpetual wars in the Middle East and north Africa. Yet despite the fact that a RedC/RTE poll in May showed that 82% of the Irish people support Irish Neutrality in all its aspects, the reality of Ireland’s integration into the US/NATO/EU military axis is ignored. PANA is recognised as the major Irish organisation opposed to this process internationally and yet we too are ignored at home. Finally, we welcome the decision of the Irish court to return the passports to our two US Veterans For Peace, Ken Mayers and Tarak Kauff to allow them home for Christmas. Let’s hope there is an Ireland to return to for their trial in 2021 and its people are not destroyed by war”.
