The world needs cooperation between North and South, West and East to solve the planetary crisis, not world views that separates people. Central to the world view in the West today is how World War II is presented. In this context there is a need for a clear opposition against antisemitic point of views and the rewriting of history which is now taking place. This is needed amidst a tendency to instrumentalize history as part of a new cold war and relativization of the Holocaust. This becomes a whitewashing of European colonialism and neocolonialism and the present world orde dominated by the West while also obfuscating the holocaust.
We use the occasion of the planned international conference on combating antisemitism and remembrance of the Holocaust October 26 – 27. Trump. Putin and other world leaders were invited 20 years after the first such conference was held in Stockholm 2000. Due to the Covid 19 pandemia the conference has not only been postponed, it has also not been replaced by a digital conference. Instead of postpoing the discussion on these issues we will organize a webinar to address them.
