The Walk begins in Augusta, Maine, April 27, 2024 and will end in Washington, DC in early July before the events being organized by the No To NATO/Yes to Peace coalition for July 5-7. The NATO 75th Anniversary is July 9-11 in Washington, DC or nearby.
In the tradition and spirit of the many wonderful long-distance walks for peace, Veterans For Peace has initiated a National Project to being April 27, 2024 and walk from Augusta, Maine, to arrive in Washington, DC in July. We’ll be walking for the wellbeing of all people, for peace and an end to the threat of nuclear war and all wars, and for an environment that supports all life. PeaceWalk 2024 will be open to all who love peace and want to walk for it. Folks can join the walk for as little or as long as they wish.
The plan is to have at least a small contingent walking every day. Some people may walk only a short distance or part of a day, others may walk the whole day’s stretch for a week or more. You can do as little or as much as you are able. At certain points, we may have a larger group for a particularly visible portion of the route or on important dates, such as Memorial Day. Logistics will be organized along the route for food, homestays, and transportation to peacewalk rout.

Dear Kristine,
Thank you. You are so kind and helpful.
I am with Veterans for Peace (associate, noncombatant member) and organizing a Peace Walk from Ogunquit, Maine May 7 to Washington D.C. arriving around July 5 in time for the No to Nato, Yes to Peace summit and rally.
The centerpiece of our walk is the genocide in Gaza, the gravest moral crisis of our time, not a stand alone, but the cause the unites and uplifts all others.
Now, amazingly, our efforts were attacked by a peace group which claims that the anti-NATO movement is from Putin.
Aside from that group – which I used to be president of and left because they were Progressive Except for Palestine – aside from that group can you name me one other peace group that is pro-NATO? If you can you will be the recipient of a newly minute one dollar bill.
What country are you based in?
Thanks and take good care,
Ralph
Kristine’s answer:
I’m based in Germany and here we have peace groups, which are not acting against NATO, and supporting arms delivery to Ukraine and also to Apartheid state Israel. Both states are strongly connected to NATO.
“NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg chaired a virtual meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of defence ministers on Friday (19 April 2024), to address Ukraine’s urgent need for air defences and other military aid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed Allies on the situation on the battlefield and Ukraine’s urgent needs. … Mr Stoltenberg underlined that “Ukraine is using the weapons we provide to destroy Russian combat capabilities. This makes us all safer. So support to Ukraine is not charity. It is an investment in our security.“
They have common exercises and trained with NATO standards and with weapons and technology. In Germany we say (rhyme): ‘Deutschland finanziert – Israel massakriert’ Germany finances Israel massacred.
Four AU members (Algeria, Egypt, Mauritania and Tunisia) along with Morocco, Jordan, and Israel are already in a NATO partnership program: the Mediterranean Dialogue – one of the two formal mechanisms for NATO interaction with countries in the West Asia and North Africa. The other is the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates.
