Topic: NATO is weaponizing the UN resolution 1325* women, peace, and security (WPS)

The following speakers will give us a short input and afterwards will have a discussion, with the aim to strengthen our activities against the war machine NATO.

• Kristine Karch, Co-chair of the international No to war – no to NATO, Germany, will open the webinar and inform about the No to Nato network and the Women Against NATO network.
• Rae Street, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), Manchester, U.K., will talk about the UN Res 1325 and the ‘interpretation’ by NATO.
• Tamara Lorincz, IPB Board member, Canada, will talk about weaponization of WPS by NATO and give us an update about Canada and NATO. 

In the discussion we also should talk about counter actions against the next NATO summit (in person event) on June 14^th, 2021 in Brussels.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (S/RES/1325), on women, peace, and security, was adopted unanimously by the UN Security Council on 31 October 2000, after recalling resolutions 1261 (1999), 1265 (1999), 1296 (2000), and 1314 (2000). The resolution acknowledged the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women and girls. It calls for the adoption of a gender perspective to consider the special needs of women and girls during conflict, repatriation and resettlement, rehabilitation, reintegration, and post-conflict reconstruction.^[1]
