Current notions of security are centered around military deterrence. Increased military spending, fortified cities, arms races, oppression and surveillance in the disguise of safety concerns are affecting all our lives, reminiscent and surpassing the cold war logic of security as “mutually assured destruction“. We need an entirely new concept of security, say Katerina and Axel from Transform Europe and Rosa Luxemburg-Stiftung Brussels Office (https://www.transform-network.net/en/ https://www.rosalux.eu). We will talk to them about a human-centred and non-militarised security, in which the actual needs of people take priority, where security is based on peace.
