The escalation of wars and military spending leaves no resources for welfare and a just climate transition. It is especially important that voices are raised across the globe and the cleavages between the West, East and South. Information about the speakers:

Environmental activist and researcher who tested reactors for nuclear submarines and later the environmental impact of nuclear facilities in the Baltic Sea. After the Chernobyl accident, he left the research institute and became involved in the environmental movement. He was one of the founders of Green World and its chairman in 2017, when the organization was disbanded after being labeled as an foreign agent. He works for the promotion of a nuclear-free future, nuclear power and environmental safety, renewable energy and energy conservation based on public participation and the involvement of all stakeholders in the decision-making process. He is particularly involved in the issue of nuclear disarmament and links between “civilian” nuclear energy and nuclear weapons and is a board member of the International Peace Bureau (IPB).

Active in Friends of the Earth in India, an organization that includes both fishermen and outdoor workers unions. He coordinates an energy and climate working group and attends climate summits when he is not hiking in the mountains to investigate the impact of climate change on local societies and nature.

A feminist and pacifist from Finland. She holds leading positions in the Finnish Peace Association and the International Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) in Finland and is active in the Nordic Peace Alliance. Her commitment to women’s rights has been long-standing, both in party politics and as head of the equality unit at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Stockholm.
