CALL FOR SUPPORT OF AN INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SOCIETY FACT FINDING MISSION TO UKRAINE
As a result of deliberations among the European Left, the Prague Spring II network against Far Right and various networks of the world wide Peace Movement which has gathered recently in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in commemoration of the beginning of World War I and the tragic massacres in the Balkans, we, the undersigned participants of different European Peace Initiatives, who reject as a matter of principle any military means to pursue political goals, are extremely worried about the recent development of the serious conflicts in and around the Republic of Ukraine.
Being afraid that these conflicts which have already cost the lives of hundreds of citizens, could eventually evolve to a regional, if not worldwide war, we, as members of the international civil society, want to join our efforts together with the people of Ukraine in order to sort out the possibilities for a peaceful solution of the conflicts on a local, national and international level.
According to our experience in other parts of the world we are deeply convinced that a peaceful solution can only be found by respecting cultural diversities and the right of self-determination in the framework of a democratic process which rejects foreign interventions of any side.
Inthis process we are organizing a FACT FINDING MISSION from July 9th to 16th, 2014 to several cities in Ukraine including Kiev, Khartov and Donetzk where we want to talk to men and women from different organisations and political cultures of Ukrainian civil society in order to insist on the necessity of a political dialogue and an immediate cease fire on the grounds of the above mentioned principles.
We therefore call all people of good will and peaceful action to support this effort in a moral, political and/or material way promising to elaborate, beyond partisanship and confessional affiliation, a detailed report reflecting the anxieties and hopes of the civil population for a political dialogue.
AGAINST FOREIGN MILITARY INTERVENTION AND FOR A POLITICAL DIALOGUE IN UKRAINE!
