Join us! Oct. 4th – Drones Global Action Day
October 4, 2014, will be the first Global Action Day Against the Use of Drones for Surveillance and Killing.
Please take a look at the new Global Action Day website. Some actions are already listed, and we are posting more every day.
Attached is the call for Global Action Day in the languages we have so far: English, French and German.
— If you have not yet planned an action, it is not too late to do so. The concept for October 4th is to have many diverse events and actions, both small and large, in different locations. Choose your own theme (whether “targeted” killing; police surveillance; drone free zones; boycotts; drone acquisition, proliferation, export and more). Events like lectures and film screenings will also be posted.
— Post your action on the website by writing to Anastasia Taylor at Code Pink . (Events taking place from October 4th through 11th will be posted.)
— If you have friends and contacts in other countries, please let them know about Global Action Day, even if they are not yet working on a drone campaign.
One aim of Global Action Day is to spread anti-drone movements to more and more countries. We want to lay a groundwork for an effective international network against the use of drones for surveillance and killing. Global Action Day events will take place in the US, in several countries in Europe, and in some countries that have most suffered under drone attacks such as Afghanistan and Pakistan. Global Action Day is cooperating with two important action weeks that begin on October 4th: the Week of Action organized by the UK Drone Campaign Network and Keep Space for Peace Week organized by Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space.
While many countries have drones, so far only three have used armed drones for killing: Israel, the US, and Great Britain. We need to put an end to drone proliferation now and work towards an international ban!
