Former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev has accused Nato of preparing for “offensive operations” against Russia. As the Western alliance held a summit in Warsaw, Poland, Mr Gorbachev criticised Nato’s decision to deploy 4,000 more international troops in Eastern Europe. Around 150 people protested outside of an Army recruiting center in Times Square in New York City as NATO met on July 9th in Warsaw, Poland. The next NATO summit is planned to take place in Warsaw on 8-9 July. This summit will be held during a period of wars, heightened global instability and conflict. The wars raged by the West in the Middle East and Afghanistan have left hundreds of thousands dead; destroyed these countries’ infrastructure and ruined the conditions for political stability and social peace.
